Horses
Every horse is an individual, and when it comes to training there is
no "one size fits all" approach that will be successful with every
horse. Billy likes to get to know the horses, to let each horse tell
him how it wants to be trained, and then to adjust his methods to
best suit that individual horse.

Billy stresses a solid foundation in the basics, because everything
rests upon that foundation. And building (or repairing) a
foundation takes time and patience. If a horse is rushed in this
process, you will have a horse who has lost confidence in himself
and in his rider, and in the long run that will take much longer to
fix than it would have to have done it right in the first place.

The ultimate goal is to have a horse who is willing to do whatever
you ask - not because you are forcing him, but because he wants to.
If you have taken the time to make sure the horse understands and
enjoys his job, and have trained him so he has confidence in himself
and his rider, you will have a horse who is fun to ride and is a true
partner.

Riders
The same philosophy applies to riders. Like horses, people learn in
different ways and at different paces. They have different issues
and different strengths and weaknesses. It's important to take the
time to figure out what approach works best for each person so
that their experience is rewarding and fun.

And not everyone has the same goals, abilities and resources. Some
may want to go down the road and run for the World (i.e. go to a lot
of Cutting shows and try to win an NCHA World Championship).
Some may just want to be able to go down the road for a nice trail
ride. Both of these goals (and everything in between) are equally
important to us, and all will get the same amount of care and
attention from us. Our goal is that you accomplish your goals, and
that you have fun doing it!
